The George Abbotsford Hotel is a 2 Star Visit Scotland Accredited Hotel
Description: Privately owned and operated the hotel is situated right in the heart of the beautiful central Borders town of Melrose. It is a large Victorian-style building extended from the original 17th century coaching inn and offers a warm and friendly atmosphere to all of it's customers. There are 29 rooms making it the largest hotel in the town centre as well as a bar and dinning area known as Scott's. The bar offers up to 4 real ales from local craft brewers and Scottish regional breweries and the dinning area uses fresh local and regional produce for the menus which are served all day from mid-day. Friendly service from all the staff complement the clean and comfortable environment of the hotel giving you a great central base for exploring all of the delights of the Scottish Borders region whilst only being 1 hours drive from the centre of Edinburgh.
Directions: Northbound from A7 travel to Galashiels and at the Kingsknowes roundabout turn right on to the A6091 towards Jedburgh and Melrose. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit following the A6091 at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit on to the local road to Melrose. Follow this road all the way to the town centre following the one way system around the town centre to come back down the High Street. The hotel is situated on the left hand side of the High Street and parking is at the back of the hotel.Southbound on the A7 to Galashiels and follow local signs towards Jedburgh and Melrose to the Kingsknowes roundabout and the follow the same directions as above.Using the A68 northbound pass through St Boswells village and approach the roundabout signed A6091 Melrose, taking the first exit. Follow for 1.5 miles then take the right turn for Melrose Town Centre. Follow the local road down to the town square and then travel down the High Street and the hotel is on the left. Parking is at the rear of the hotel.For A68 southbound pass through Earlston and after 2 miles approach the roundabout signed Melrose A6091. Take the 2nd exit on to A6091 and follow the instructions above to enter Melrose town centre and locate the hotel.
